CT ScannerHMG announces the installation of Kingsport’s first 64-slice CT scanner—the Philip’s Brilliance 64-channel CT. Designed for leading-edge and research-oriented institutions, the state-of-the-art computed tomography (CT) unit will provide the most-advanced multi-slice CT studies available.

“This is truly leading-edge technology that exemplifies a new realm of diagnostic possibilities,” announces HMG founder Jerry L. Miller, MD. “This unit will provide unprecedented imaging performance, boosting diagnostic confidence, image quality and patient comfort.”

The ultra-high resolution and speed is incredible. In many instances, only a 7-second breath hold is required for image studies.

According to Miller, the purpose of bringing technology of this caliber to Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia is that of improving patient outcomes by providing not only an earlier diagnosis but also a more accurate diagnosis.

“It’s very simple: The earlier the diagnosis, the better the outcome for the patient,” says Miller. “Everything we do at Holston Medical Group is aimed at providing the best for patients.”

With 40mm of thin-slice coverage, the 64-channel broadens horizons in cardiac imaging, allowing for unprecedented coronary artery evaluation. The 64-channel configuration also provides breakthrough performance in advanced pulmonary imaging, multi-organ trauma evaluation and low-dose pediatric applications to boost clinical capabilities to the highest level attainable.

“Our region is home to some of the nation’s most talented physicians and surgeons,” begins Miller.”Our doctors are reinforced by medical centers providing exemplary care. With outstanding medical talent and hospitals, it’s only appropriate that we should have immediate access to the same level of excellence in imaging diagnostics.”

The new 64-slice unit is housed at HMG’s Outpatient Diagnostic Center at MeadowView Lane, located in the MeadowView Lane Professional Center at 2033 MeadowView Lane. HMG’s MeadowView Lane ODC facility is known for its provision of diagnostic capabilities that rival leading research institutions across the nation.
