HMG welcomes endocrinologist Sherif Z. Yacoub-Wasef, MD
Friday, August 1, 2008KINGSPORT, Tenn. - Holston Medical Group is pleased to announce the addition endocrinologist Sherif Z. Yacoub Wasef, MD. Dr. Yacoub comes to HMG from the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, where he actively participated in the design and implementation of a diabetes management in-patient program. Board certified in both internal medicine and endocrinology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Yacoub received his doctorate of medicine from the Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, where he graduated with honors. He completed additional internal medicine residency training at the New York Medical College, New York, NY. Additionally, he completed an endocrinology fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston. Fluent in four languages (English, French, Spanish and Arabic), Dr. Yacoub has been privileged to participate in diabetes research alongside Dr. Maria Buse, the world-renowned scientist. The author of multiple medical publications, Dr. Yacoub is also the recipient of numerous honors and awards. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Diabetes Association, and the American Academy for Clinical Endocrinologists. Dr. Yacoub and his wife, Elena Yacoub, MD, enjoy time with their daughter, Sophia. They currently reside in Kingsport. Dr. Yacoub is now accepting new patients.
