HMG Welcomes New COO, Stephan G. Lauhoff, CMPE

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - Holston Medical Group is pleased to welcome Steve G. Lauhoff, CMPE, as the Group’s new chief operating officer. Lauhoff comes to HMG from Raleigh, North Carolina, where he managed the large multi-specialty practice of Wake Internal Medical Consultants, guiding it into certification as a Better Performing Practice as designated by the Medical Group Management Association.

Lauhoff’s career includes a wide range of medical practice management challenges, ranging from the implementation of new revenue management programs and new governance structures to the development of satellite offices, compliance/auditing systems, and IT utilization.

“Steve’s extensive background in medical practice management makes him an ideal fit for the challenges encountered within a multi-specialty practice as comprehensive as Holston Medical Group,” says HMG President & Founder Jerry L. Miller, MD. “We’re looking forward to the leadership advantages Steve will provide in strengthening HMG and enabling us to better serve our patient population.”

Lauhoff holds both a bachelor’s of science and a master’s of health administration from the University of Missouri, Columbia.

Certified by the American College of Medical Practice Executives, Lauhoff is a member of the Medical Group Management Association and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives.

A community enthusiast, he has served on the Occoneechee Council for the Boy Scouts of America as well as a volunteer for the Center of Volunteer Caregiving. Additionally, Lauhoff has been an active volunteer within church. In his leisure time, Lauhoff enjoys tennis, fly fishing, golf, and ice hockey.

He and his wife, Susan, reside in Kingsport’s oldest neighborhood, the White City Historic District, where they are renovating “The Lodge.” Together, they share an interest in historic preservation and a desire to serve within the community.
