HMG welcomes family physician Wendy Oberdick, MD

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Holston Medical Group welcomes family physician Wendy Oberdick, MD, to its HMG primary care location at the HMG Medical Plaza, Kingsport.  Dr. Oberdick, a native of East Tennessee, comes to HMG from Louisiana, with more than two decades of comprehensive medical experience.

Board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, Dr. Oberdick received both her bachelor of science in biology and her doctorate of medicine from the University of Alabama, Birmingham, graduating magna cum laude and cum laude, respectively.  She completed her postgraduate training in family medicine with the Carilion Clinic, Roanoke, Va., where she was chosen to serve as chief resident.

With extensive interest and experience in improving patient care through the utilization of electronic health technology, Dr. Oberdick is a champion of the patient-centered medical home model of care.  Additionally, she comes to HMG with comprehensive continuing medical education ranging from the treatment of anxiety & depression to cardio-vascular disease, osteoporosis and obesity.

Serving as adjunct clinical faculty at Tulane University, Louisiana, Dr. Oberdick is experienced in the psychosocial aspects of environmental health disasters, drawing upon her experience of caring for patients during the post disaster management of Hurricane Katrina.

The recipient of numerous awards and honors, including being included in the publication, “The Best Doctors in America,” Dr. Oberdick’s comprehensive experience includes both inner city and foreign missions experience, providing medical care to the underserved.
