There's a whole lot of barking going on this summer about the importance of routine health exams. And, there's good reason.
We, at HMG, know the importance of maintaining your health and preventing the development of more serious conditions. So much so that we're launching our "Fido Fantastic Summer" health promotion campaign, reminding folks that, "Even Fido has an annual check-up."
"When you think about it, it's rather ironic," says HMG President & CEO Scott Fowler, JD, MD. "We live in a culture where we understand the importance of taking our family pets in for a yearly exam, but we undervalue routine health exams for people. While we certainly want you to take excellent care of your pets, we're also communicating that you need to do the same for your own health."
Fido billboards, radio and TV spots, posters, postcard reminders, and even Fido cardstock fans (as a part of a Fido FANtastic photo contest) will be a part of the Fido Fantastic Summer campaign, as a playful way to engage individuals, encouraging the importance of health maintenance.
"Our vision at HMG is to do everything we can to engage our patients and communities to be the healthiest region in America," says Dr. Fowler. "And, we think this campaign will do just that. We're making Fido fans available far and wide, hoping that folks in the Tri-Cities will help us spread the word and have a lot of fun in the process."
"From a prevention standpoint, routine exams are your greatest opportunity to identify health issues that may not make you feel bad at first, but, in time, could worsen or lead to the development of a more serious condition," says Steve Adkins, MD, an HMG primary care provider featured within the Fido campaign.
HMG primary care provider John Hollandsworth, MD, also featured in the Fido campaign, agrees. "Most individuals who have high blood pressure and high cholesterol aren't even aware because symptoms are often not present until the disease becomes advanced."
Championing the importance of routine health exams, Charter Media, WKPT, and WTFM have joined HMG in the distribution of Fido fans and the promotion of the monthly "Fido FANtastic Summer Fun Facebook Photo Contests" that include prizes such as season tickets to Dollywood, passes to Bristol's Rhythm & Roots, a family membership to the new Kingsport Aquatic Center and a grand prize award of a family vacation extravaganza to The Wilderness Resort in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
