As we monitor coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to provide accurate information and offer a few tips to help keep you, your loved ones and our community safe.
Please know that we are working closely with the CDC and state resources to monitor and respond, providing you with accurate, up-to-date information and taking proactive measures to reduce the risk of exposure to our staff, providers and patients.
Everyone must do their part to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. HMG recommends the following tips to reduce your risk of exposure:
Everyday Tips for Prevention
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing, or having been in a public place.
- If soap and water are not available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
- To the extent possible, avoid touching high-touch surfaces in public places – elevator buttons, door handles, handrails, handshaking with people, etc. Use a tissue or your sleeve to cover your hand or finger if you must touch something.
- Wash your hands after touching surfaces in public places.
- Avoid touching your face, nose, eyes, etc.
- Clean and disinfect your home to remove germs: practice routine cleaning of frequently touched surfaces (for example: tables, doorknobs, light switches, handles, desks, toilets, faucets, sinks & cell phones)
- Avoid crowds, especially in poorly ventilated spaces. Your risk of exposure to respiratory viruses like COVID-19 may increase in crowded, closed-in settings with little air circulation if there are people in the crowd who are sick.
- Avoid all non-essential travel including plane trips, and especially avoid embarking on cruise ships.

Those at High Risk
We are taking extra precautions with patients who are at higher risk for contracting COVID-19. These patients include the following:
- Older adults
- People who have serious chronic medical conditions like:
- Heart Disease
- Lung Disease
- Anyone who has been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
If you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, please call your local hotline – 833-822-5523.
If you are in this category, we recommend that you review the CDC guidelines for how to keep yourself well and tips to prepare yourself. We also ask that you call our office before arriving so we can assess your symptoms prior to coming in to the office.
It’s important to know the symptoms of this virus and to contact your healthcare provider by phone if you develop the following symptoms, which may appear 2-14 days after exposure:
- Fever of 100.4°F or higher
- Shortness of breath
If you have symptoms that are not worsening, we ask that you please stay home and call your provider’s office for guidance on next steps.
If you develop warning signs for COVID-19, please go the nearest emergency room or call 911.
Emergency warning signs include:
- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
- New confusion or inability to be alert
- Bluish lips or face
