Holston Medical Group (HMG) welcomes Dr. Demetria Rawlinson to HMG Family Medicine. Dr. Rawlinson will join HMG on August 1 to provide medical care for adults and children at 9816 Sam Furr Road, Huntersville, NC.
Rawlinson focuses on holistic patient care that includes preventative medicine, women’s health, chronic diseases, illnesses and injuries. She says family medicine offers the opportunity to expand standard medical treatment into strong preventative care for the entire family. “Because illnesses rarely affect just one family member, gaining insight into family genetics and dynamics is a powerful diagnosis tool in health care.” She sees a strong doctor-patient relationship with multiple family members leading to an overall healthier lifestyle.
Rawlinson graduated from Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, Greenville, NC. She completed her residency at Carolinas Medical Center Family Medicine Residency in Charlotte. Rawlinson is a member of American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, and North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians.
Dedicated to giving back to the community, Rawlinson has a passion for encouraging children to be their best. She promotes interest in science and health careers through hands-on clinical exposure, roundtable discussions, and health fairs. In addition, she has mentored middle school, high school and college students.
Many rural and urban underserved communities continue to faces challenges in accessing health care. Rawlinson participates in outreach programs to provide medical care and promote better health within these communities.
Dr. Rawlinson, her husband, Carlos, and their dog, Tyson, reside in Charlotte. She enjoys reading, music, and spending time with family and friends.
