To our North Carolina patients

As we shared on April 8, the past few months have seen some changes and we want to summarize those here in order to provide some clarity about the impact to you as our patients, and HMG as an organization.

Earlier in the year, 35 physicians resigned from HMG. Honoring scheduled patient visits and contracts, these physicians were scheduled to transition out of practice with us in September of 2020. That being said, COVID-19 has impacted many healthcare organizations like ours in surprising ways. With urgent COVID-19 cases being admitted to hospitals and the “Stay at Home Order” in place limiting check-ups and elective care, we have seen a dramatic reduction in physician office visits – significantly impacting our organization.

With this in mind, as of April 10, 2020, all 35 of those physicians were dismissed from patient care responsibility. As a result, and to consolidate care during COVID-19, we have also closed 11 office locations and support staff for those locations were let go. Patients directly impacted by a departing physician, were notified by mail.

The following locations and providers are available for the continuation of your care:

HMG Family Medicine
106 Corporate Park Dr, Mooresville

The HMG OBGYN location at Reese Blvd in Huntersville remained open the week of April 13 in order to ensure transition of care for OB/GYN patients impacted by changes resulting from physician departures. However, following the continuation of care management to handle pending appointments and OB patient transfers, as of end of day Friday, April 17, 2020, this location will now be closed.  A total of 13 staff members have been affected by this change and have been notified.

Outreach has been conducted to all OBGYN patients with a pending appointment in the next 90 days to notify them and effectively transition their care. All other OBGYN patients have been notified by mail outlining options for continuation of care.

We know that at any time, especially now, this news is difficult to hear. Though this transition happened earlier than anticipated, rest assured that we are here to support every one of you throughout this uncertain and unprecedented time. If you have questions or concerns, please call 1-877-464-1213 and our team members will provide you with the information you need.

Atrium Health announced via a press release that as of April 23rd, the physicians no longer with HMG will be joining their health system. A definitive date of when they will be available to continue your care was not shared. If you wish to receive updates from Atrium on when your physician will be available, you can call 704-468-8892 or sign up online at www.AtriumHealth.org/Welcome.

Additionally, you may contact your physician at 1healthphysicians@gmail.com.

To provide you with additional support should you have an immediate need, we have also partnered with Novant Health to create a seamless process, ensuring you have the care you need when and where you need it. Novant Health offers primary care, OB/GYN and specialty locations around the lake that you can count on for care now and in the future.

  • For immediate primary care needs, call 704-384-1729 to connect with a care location and mention you are an HMG patient.

Additionally, we will work with any other provider of your choice, including your doctor, to transition your care and make your records available.

The traditional records request process requires an in-office visit with physical forms, but we wanted to create a way to keep everyone safe with the “Stay at Home Order” in place and add a layer of convenience during this time. If you need assistance or have any questions regarding Medical Records Release, please call 423-857-2772.

As always, our primary focus remains making sure your needs are met. We recognize the fear and uncertainty this situation may cause and remain committed to assisting you as best as we are able. We will continue to provide you with factual, up to date information on this page about how and where to receive care as related to COVID-19 and beyond.

Sincerely,
Holston Medical Group
