Barker specializes in family medicine, preventative care, and treatment of long-term and short-term illnesses. She said that the variety and continuity of care drew her to family medicine. “I strive to develop strong family relationships that help me guide them into an overall healthy lifestyle.” Research shows that healthier nutrition, exercise and lifestyle can help reduce chronic disease risk. She is accepting pediatric and adult primary care patients.
Actively involved in medical mission trips, Barker recently hiked into rural villages in India to provide health care. “Many people have no or limited access to even the most basic medical care. Because resources are limited in many communities, health care and medications can be life changing for them. While it can be challenging work, I look forward to providing health care on missions.”
Dr. Barker completed medical school at Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine of Midwestern University in Downer’s Grove, IL. She finished her residency at Novant Health Family Medicine Residency Program in Cornelius.
