About Dr. Phemister

Dr. Jennifer Phemister treats a broad range of gastroenterological diseases, including pancreas, stomach and colon disorders. She says the variety of procedures as well as inpatient and outpatient treatments drew her to gastroenterology. Having Phemister on staff gives HMG patients the option of choosing either a male or a female gastroenterologist.

Colonoscopy, upper endoscopy and ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography) are the primary procedures Dr. Phemister performs. She is especially interested in promoting regular colonoscopies. “Removing polyps can prevent colon cancer, which is the third most common cancer in the United States.” Phemister explains the importance of regular colonoscopies to all her patients.

Born in Kingsport, Dr. Phemister and her husband, Ryan, reside in Johnson City. Both of them along with their four children recently attained certification in scuba diving. The family enjoys traveling, especially to scuba diving locations. She also makes time for gardening and cooking.
