As we get ready to welcome a new year, we at Holston Medical Group (HMG) are both proud and humbled by all the work we’ve done together over the past year. Looking ahead, we’re committed to building on this foundation and finding even more ways to serve and support the health of our patients.
“HMG’s mission is to provide quality medical care that exceeds patient expectations and builds lasting relationships. In 2024, we sought ways to put that mission into action to strengthen the communities we serve,” said Dr. Scott Fowler, HMG’s President and CEO.
HMG Vice President Dr. Cheryl Stanski agreed. “We believe in making high-quality, affordable care accessible to everyone. Our patient-first focus drives us forward every day.”
Guided by those ideas, 2024 was a year of growth and investment for HMG. We added seven new locations, 37 new providers, and new patient tools to improve the care experience.
New Tools and Services to Enhance Patient Care
We know that some people like to pick up the phone to talk to their favorite provider. Others would rather schedule an appointment online. That’s why we rolled out our newest patient experience tools this year. Now, you can reach out to your HMG provider in the way that is best for you—in person or online.
If you need to check on your medicines or leave a question for your child’s provider, online access is available 24/7. We’ve also made check-in easier by letting you fill out forms at home. Or, you can use your smart device at our in-office kiosks to complete your check-in and let your provider’s staff know when you’ve arrived for your visit.
“Making care easier to access is our goal,” said Samantha Sizemore, chief operations officer at HMG. “Our technology is just one way we aim to simplify and personalize the care experience.”
We also realized people needed more after-hours care and specialty centers. So, over the past year, we grew the HMG family of care to include:
- A new urgent care location in Abingdon, VA
- Meadowview Ear, Nose & Throat
- HMG Pediatrics at Greeneville
- The Doctor’s Office in Greeneville, TN
- A new Diagnostic Center in Duffield, VA
In total, we added 37 new providers to our team in 2024. Of those, nearly 20 are primary care providers. As we grew, we looked for the right mix of local talent and other providers who wanted to make the Tri-Cities home.
New Partnerships, Same Mission
For many years, HMG has urged team members to give back through our Mission into Motion program. Mission into Motion serves local charities and honors team members who log more than 100 service hours in a single year. As we wrap up 2024, we’ve seen a nearly 47% increase in service hours. That means close to 7,500 hours of service! Between volunteering, donations and sponsorships, HMG has supported over 245 different community groups, events and organizations throughout the year.
In 2024, HMG also took steps to mentor the next generation of high-quality healthcare professionals. For example, we:
- Partnered with Northeast State Community College to offer paid, on-the-job learning for students in the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant apprenticeship program.
- Worked to encourage younger students to pursue a nursing career.
Since HMG opened its doors in 1977, we have committed to our communities. We have grown and added new services over the years. But our focus has not changed.
“Our mission has always remained the same,” Dr. Fowler explained. “Our relationships with our patients and our communities mean everything. We’re honored that so many patients count on us to be their health partner for life.”
We’re here to help you achieve your health goals in 2025. You can make an appointment online or find a doctor closest to you. Rest assured that we will continue to work hard to provide quality medical care that exceeds your expectations and builds lasting relationships.
