Foot Care Tips
Good foot care can help prevent injuries, infections and other common foot problems. Taking a few minutes each day to care for your feet can help keep them healthy and comfortable.
Daily Foot Care
- Wash your feet every day with warm water and soap. Thoroughly dry your feet after bathing.
- Apply moisturizer to help prevent dry, cracked skin.
- Inspect your feet for wounds, skin problems or signs of infection.
- Treat sweaty feet with a medicated powder or spray containing aluminum chloride hexahydrate.
- Wear shoes both indoors and outdoors to help prevent foot injuries.
- Apply sunscreen to the tops of your feet when they are exposed to the sun.
Weekly Foot Care
- Trim toenails as needed, cutting straight across to help prevent ingrown toenails.
- Use cuticle oil or vitamin E to help moisturize dry nails.
- Choose nail polish that does not contain formaldehyde, toluene or dibutyl phthalate.
- Smooth corns and calluses with a pumice stone. Avoid over-the-counter products that contain acids.
