Dr. Akins received her Bachelor of Science degree from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI and her Master’s from Barry University in Miami FL. She then achieved her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Lincoln Memorial University’s Debunk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, TN and completed her residency in Family Medicine at East Tennessee State University.
