EMRHolston Medical Group’s advanced utilization of electronic health information technology has garnered two recent regional technology wins—the TechStarTechMed (awarded by the East Tennessee Medical News) awards.

Each win centered around HMG’s advanced use of electronic health information and its integration within the patient online services of myHMG and mySeasons.

“I’ve committed my entire life to ensuring that this region have not merely adequate medical services, but the best—the best doctors, the best nurses, the best specialists, the best technology and the best by way of electronic health information,” champions HMG Founder & President Jerry L. Miller, MD. “Our commitment to the robust utilization of EMR truly sets us apart and enables us to provide the thoughtful, conscientious care our patients deserve.”

Thanks to HMG’s comprehensive use of electronic health information, HMG has been able to provide patients confidential and secure online access to their personal health information—any time they want it.

With myHMG (and it’s women’s health counterpart “mySeasons”), patients are able to:

  • Communicate with their provider team through secure messaging via the patient’s myHMG or mySeasons profile.
  • Request an appointment and view past appointment dates.
  • View & print medication allergies & immunizations.
  • View lab results.
  • Review medication lists and request refills.

“One of the judges commented that myHMG and mySeasons provided a great community and business solution combined with a great wow factor,’” explained HMG Director of Information Systems Chip Childress, who went on to add that much of the excitement regarding the awards is centered around the fact that the technology applications were designed and conceived by HMG physicans and the Group’s IS team.

According to Dr. Miller, the recent technology awards are evidence of HMG reaping the benefits of a decade of time- and knowledge-intensive work in the creation of a leading-edge health information system.

“Early on, we felt that automation was a part of medicine,” concludes Dr. Miller. “In other words, we should not only be concerned with the art and science of medicine but also the information technology of medicine. Technology is an important component in that we must continually and consistently demand a measurement of ourselves and our data so that we delivery the best quality care possible. Our patients deserve nothing less.”

HMG’s provision of online patient services draws from HMG’s integrated use of the TouchWorks™ Electronic Medical Records system, by Allscripts Health Solutions. This group-wide connectivity affords HMG’s 150-plus providers immediate access to the Group’s more than 245,000 fully-electronic patient records.

HMG patients interested in utilizing the myHMG and mySeasons patient online services should contact their HMG or Seasons provider.
