The new Tennessee Mature Minor Doctrine Clarification Act requires a legal guardian’s consent to administer vaccinations to minor children.

Can a step-parent or grandparent consent to vaccines if they are on the child’s HIPPA form?

No. Only a biological parent or legal guardian can consent for vaccines.

Do I need to consent once or at each visit?

As of now, you will have to consent at each visit.

Can I send in a handwritten note that vaccines can be given?

No. You will need to print the vaccine consent form and complete it.

What if I am bringing a child that is in foster care?
