Holston Medical Group welcomes Cory Knecht, MD , to HMG Orthopedics at Medical Plaza located at 105 W. Stone Dr., Suite B, Kingsport, TN, and HMG Orthopedics at Sapling Grove at 240 Medical Park Blvd., Suite 1500, Bristol, TN. Dr. Knecht is joining Dr. Jason Park, Dr. Lindsay Remy, and Dr. Ashraf Youssef.
Dr. Knecht grew up on his family’s farm in rural Ohio where he was able to witness how essential it is to maintain bodily form and function. “Farming requires a tremendous amount of physical labor and my drive to become an orthopaedic surgeon was initially inspired by my desire to help farmers continue farming for as long as they can,” said Dr. Knecht.
Dr. Knecht received his medical doctorate at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, Columbus, OH. He then completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Cleveland Clinic Akron General in Akron, OH; His fellowship was completed at Stanford University where he sub-specialized in hip and knee joint reconstruction surgery in Redwood City, CA.
“I earned the opportunity to attend Stanford University this past year and train with some of the world leaders in joint replacement surgery. I am excited to take the high-quality education and training I received and bring it to Eastern Tennessee,” said Dr. Knecht.
Dr. Knecht provides general orthopaedic care with further specialization in hip and knee replacement surgery. For hip replacement, he provides anterior and posterior approaches. For knee replacement, he offers partial and total knee replacements. He also selectively incorporates use of MAKO robotics for his replacement procedures.
“As a surgeon, I believe it’s important to listen to my patient’s concerns and then educate them on their options,” said Dr. Knecht. “Together, working as a team, we are able to create a personalized treatment plan to optimize mobility and quality of life.”
Dr. Knecht enjoys spending time with his wife and two young daughters. Dr. Knecht is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys archery, whitetail deer hunting, fishing, and dirt bike trail riding. He is excited to move to East Tennessee and feels he and his family share many of the same values of our region.
