Ashley McGuire, DO portrait Holston Medical Group announces the addition of Ashley McGuire, DO, to its team of highly qualified providers at HMG Primary Care at Abingdon, located at 641 Campus Drive, Suite B, Abingdon, VA. Dr. McGuire joins Dr. Alison Whitman, Dr. Charlotte Townsend, Kelsey Stapleton, PA, and Bailey Musick, FNP, in delivering high quality, cost effective primary care to patients ages 14 and older.

A native of Bluefield, VA, Dr. McGuire has long held a passion for medicine and caregiving. After exploring her career path, she ultimately chose family medicine to provide care to patients across all stages of life. With special interests in lifestyle medicine, preventative care, and supporting patients’ comprehensive well-being, she focuses on treating the whole person, promoting nutrition, exercise, mindfulness, and overall health.

“My home is in Abingdon, and my heart is in caring for its people,” says Dr. McGuire. “I’ve always believed in the healing power of trust and relationships, and I’m excited to bring that philosophy to the community I’ve come to love. I hope to make a difference here for years to come.”

Dr. McGuire’s impressive credentials include dual board certifications from the American Board of Osteopathic Family Medicine and the American Board of Family Medicine. Her expertise spans general family medicine, joint injections, weight management, preventative care, and more. Her approach centers on empowering patients to play an active role in their health, believing the body has natural self-healing abilities when supported correctly.

Dr. McGuire’s enthusiasm for caring for her neighbors is evident in her personal commitment to the Abingdon community. Now a resident of the area, she describes Abingdon as her “forever home” and cherishes the close connections she has built within the region.

Dr. McGuire received her Bachelor of Science from Bluefield College and her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency in family medicine at Wellmont-Lonesome Pine Hospital and her residency in internal medicine at Geisinger Medical Center.
