About Dr. Breeding
Sam Breeding, MD, FACOEM, is chief medical officer (CMO) at Holston Medical Group (HMG). As a clinical leader for over 45 clinics, 150 mid-level and physician providers, Dr. Breeding develops and implements policies, procedures and best practices for the providers and the clinical staff. He also oversees all training and continuing education for the clinical staff, ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local laws. Dr. Breeding also serves as the chair of the Finance Committee for HMG.
For the last 20 years, Dr. Breeding has practiced at HMG Occupational Medicine – serving as the region’s most respected occupational medicine physician. He served as President of the Tennessee College of Occupational Medicine, 1998-1999.
Dr. Breeding earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Virginia Tech. He then went on to receive his Doctorate of Medicine from Medical College of Virginia and became board-certified in family medicine and occupational medicine. Following his residency in family medicine at East Tennessee State University Quillen School of Medicine, Dr. Breeding served in the Air Force and became the chief of aeromedical services at Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma, 1981-1984.
