By HMG

2bPrecise / AllscriptsCHICAGO, Nov. 29, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – 2bPrecise LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Allscripts Healthcare Inc. (Allscripts) (NASDAQ:MDRX), will deploy its cloud-based genomics and precision medicine solution at Holston Medical Group (HMG). HMG is one of the largest multi-specialty providers in the Southeastern United States, and a national leader in clinical research and EHR integration. The organization will use the clinical-genomic solution in the areas of behavioral health to improve the quality of patient care and patient-reported outcomes.

The 2bPrecise EHR-agnostic solution will empower HMG physicians to use genomic information along with their current Allscripts TouchWorks® EHR workflow, simplifying and optimizing the complex process of finding, selecting, ordering and receiving genomic tests. Results of genomic sequencing tests will be made available and actionable at the point of care.

“We have a significant patient population that struggles with opioid addiction and access to specialty care is a challenge in our area. As these patients’ primary care providers, we are actively trying to figure out ways to improve the quality of our mental and behavioral health care,” said Holston Medical Group CEO Dr. Scott Fowler. “The 2bPrecise solution will empower us with genomic information at the point of care, so we are able to treat our patients more effectively.”

In addition to improving the workflow experience for physicians and nurses, the 2bPrecise solution uses advanced methods in clinical-genomic ontology and information harmonization, and will return merged, semantically harmonized knowledge in a machine-readable and structured format. Medical researchers can combine genomic data with clinical and environmental information in a manner that enables statistical analysis and pattern detection.

“The promise of precision medicine is becoming more and more realized as the healthcare industry continues to shift towards value-based care. Precision Medicine can play a meaningful role in the community and the primary care setup,” said Founder and CEO of 2bPrecise Assaf Halevy. “We look forward to partnering with Holston Medical Group to make an immediate positive impact on the care they provide to their patient population.”
