The mission of the Tennessee Physical Therapy Association, a member driven organization, is to represent and advocate for the profession of physical therapy and promote excellent, ethical, and autonomous practice, which serves the culturally diverse population of Tennessee.
“As a Profession and Association, we need to continue to move the needle forward for practicing Physical Therapy Professionals in our State and make our patients keenly aware of exactly what we do,” Meade states. “I have had the opportunity and privilege of serving the TPTA since 1981, and was part of the charter team who initiated and founded the Northeast PT District later to be called the Tri-Cities District.”
In October 2015, Meade received the Outstanding Service Award from the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy and the prestigious “Carol Likens Award” from TPTA in 2010. Dr. Meade has served as Vice President of the TPTA for the past 6 years, and served on the TPTA Licensing Board from 1992 to 1998 and then became the PT Board Consultant to the PT Board of Examiners in areas of investigation and continuing competence.
Dr. Meade is currently a Board Member of the Foreign Credentialing Commission on Physical Therapy (FCCPT), assisting this organization in credentialing the foreign-educated physical therapists who would like to practice in the U.S. He has a strong passion for adjunct teaching at East Tennessee State University in their Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
