By HMG

Lachlan Hodge, DPT portrait Holston Medical Group welcomes Lachlan Hodge, DPT, CSCS, to the highly qualified team of providers at HMG Rehabilitation at Sapling Grove, 240 Medical Park Blvd., Suite 1400, Bristol, TN, to further increase the region’s access to personalized, empathetic care.

Hodge, an Australian native and former athlete who spent several years with the New York Mets, has transitioned from the baseball field to the field of physical therapy, driven by his own experience with injuries.

“After enduring numerous shoulder and elbow injuries from my years as a pitcher in baseball, I realized the importance of sharing my insights to aid others in their recovery,” said Hodge. “I take a holistic approach, considering all aspects of an individual’s well-being to address the root causes of pain.”

Hodge emphasizes the significance of addressing both physical and mental components of injury. “I firmly believe in the connection between mind and body,” explains Hodge. “Sometimes pain isn’t just a physical ailment but can stem from psychological factors. I aim to make my patients’ healing process engaging by introducing enjoyable and effective activities to enhance their movement experience.”

In addition, Hodge leverages data to inform injury prevention strategies and optimize performance. “Through data analysis and my expertise, I strive to identify injury-related patterns, minimizing the chances of a repeat occurrence when patients return to what they enjoy,” explained Hodge. “Understanding the body’s strengths and weaknesses enables us to proactively mitigate risks and enhance athletic performance.”

Hodge obtained his Transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy from Northeastern University (Boston, Mass.), Master of Physiotherapy, Master of Research, and his Bachelor of Applied Science at the University of Sydney (Sydney, Australia).

Hodge enjoys spending time with his wife, two young daughters, and two dogs. They enjoy family activities and outings to local parks.

Hodge looks forward to joining a team of highly qualified providers who support patients’ individualized physical therapy, industrial rehab, sports medicine, dry needling, blood flow restriction therapy, hand and upper extremity care, and wound care management needs.
