Holston Medical Group welcomes Andrew French, DO to HMG Primary Care at Sapling Grove located at 240 Medical Park Blvd., Suite 3000, Bristol, TN.
From a young age, Dr. French was always interested in science, biology, and helping those in need. As the son of a veterinarian, French recalls being intrigued by how his father was able to help the animals and connect with the owners. He initially thought he may follow in his father’s footsteps and become a veterinarian too. However, after spending time in his father’s veterinary practice, he quickly found he was allergic to pet dander, so he took his passion for helping others and decided to become a physician.
“I love practicing family medicine,” said Dr. French. “It really allows me to care for people at every stage in life from pediatrics to prenatal to geriatrics and everything in between.” Dr. French specifically enjoys using osteopathic manual treatment (OMT), a set of hands-on techniques used by osteopathic physicians (DOs) to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness or injury. “It is very gratifying to see my patient get better at the appointment, and leave in better health from the OMT treatment, giving them immediate relief in some cases,” said Dr. French.
As a primary care physician, Dr. French values his relationships with his patients, serving as the first point of contact for their health needs. “I help patients deal with their immediate problems and help organize care with specialist as needed,” said Dr. French. “I want my patients to know they can rely on me and my team to coordinate their care and understand their individual needs.”
Dr. French received his doctorate degree at University of Pikeville, Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine, Pikeville, Ky. and completed his residency at Shenandoah Valley Family Practice, Front Royal, Va.
Dr. French enjoys time with his wife, and two young children. They spend their family time playing outside on playgrounds and board games with friends.
